The oldest origin has kombucha arising in China around 221 BCE during the Qin Dynasty.

Kombucha was typically referred to as the “Tea of Immortality”. The emperor Qin Shi Huang is said to have sought to lengthen his life and this tea of immortality was purportedly delivered by an alchemist at his request.

The first commercial kombucha was started in the late 90s and is still around today.

Kombucha is a sparkling fermented beverage filled with living cultures (friendly yeast & bacteria), antioxidants and organic acids.
The SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast), or Mother is a culture that metabolizes all of the great ingredients in our kombucha. It gives our kombucha all of its great benefits: live cultures (friendly bacteria and yeast), antioxidants and organic acids.

Some people think that kombucha is made from mushrooms, but don’t be fooled – that’s a myth!

Kombucha is a sparkling, fermented beverage. RISE Kombucha flavours are always accessible and balanced. Kombucha has a tart taste and is similar to a sparkling apple cider, but more sour. The taste can vary depending on the teas, fruits and aromas used in the process. We definitely believe that we have a flavour to suit everyone’s taste buds!

We suggest starting by drinking small quantities to slowly become familiar with the taste. It’s similar to an experience with wine or beer.

In order to drink all the good stuff in kombucha, we suggest gently swirling the bottle, to activate all its benefits. Please don’t shake your kombucha. Contents are under pressure.
The sediments you see at the bottom of the bottle are totally normal. Don’t worry! They are particles of our ingredients, mainly tea. Over time, the sediment will increase as heavier particles sink to the bottom of the bottle. Gently swirl the bottle to mix before drinking your kombucha.
Kombucha may contain small traces of alcohol due to the fermentation process.

We developed a proprietary technique to guarantee that alcohol volume remains below 0.5% throughout the product’s shelf life, if kept at 4 degrees Celsius.

Every system is different, and as such, the effects of kombucha will vary from person to person. We always suggest starting with a small amount and increasing it daily, to see how you feel.

Fun fact: Our team can easily drink 1L a day!

Our products are always unpasteurized and raw and kombucha contains small traces of alcohol.

It is always important for pregnant women to consult their doctor on any health-related questions, including whether to drink kombucha.

Our products all come stamped with a best before date (BB). A BB date tells you when the durable life period of a prepackaged food ends.

Durable life means the anticipated amount of time that an unopened product, when stored under appropriate conditions will retain its:

  • Freshness
  • Taste
  • Nutritional value, or
  • Other qualities

It is important to note that a BB date is not the same as an expiration date.

Note that if you haven’t consumed your kombucha by its best before date there is no risk in drinking it, but the flavour profile may have changed slightly as well as the live culture content.

Our Classic line has a 12-month shelf life at bottling, while our 1g line has an 8-month shelf life at bottling.

Yes! RISE Kombucha is a sparkling fermented beverage that isn’t pasteurized. It means that our product is still alive and needs to stay refrigerated at 4 degrees. Refrigeration creates a pause in the fermentation process and ensures that additional pressure and alcohol aren’t generated inside the bottle. If left unrefrigerated for long periods of time (weeks), nature will take its course and pressure will begin to build up inside the bottle. This pressure may cause the bottle to shatter or the cap to blow off. If you have left your RISE Kombucha unrefrigerated for a long period of time (mistakes happen!), we recommend that you put the bottle back in the refrigerator until the internal temperature reaches 4 degrees and then discard it.

Here is a list of benefits, aside from great taste, present in each bottle of RISE Kombucha.

  • Living cultures (friendly yeast & bacteria)! These microorganisms are excellent for your gut. They support your digestion and immune systems.
  • Antioxidants. The tea and herbs with which Kombucha is brewed are filled with polyphenols (a type of antioxidant) which in turn help protect your body’s cells from harm.
  • Organic Acids, which are known to detoxify the liver and help with digestion.
  • Our Kombucha is raw, alive and unpasteurized. Make sure you keep it refrigerated at all times.

Here are the best times to drink RISE kombucha:
